Review of the Hunter 260 by David Holmes

Year built 1998
Location of boat Lake Windermere uk
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in opal
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Most definetely she is a beatiful boat everywhere i go someone wants to buy her.
Gear that's been added Chart plotter. DSC VHF.Fishfinder,Solarvent.Already came with roller reefing jib, single line mainsail reefing,Solar pannel,Spray hood and remotes for the outboard.
Structural or complex improvements Fitted more cleats and clutches for all control lines to be led to the cockpit
The boat's best features Trailability, very comfortable interior pretty quick with correct ammount of sail.Love the transom seats i have fitted a telescopic tiller extension in order to steer from the seat to windward.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing yet
Sailing characterisitcs She needs to be reefed handy in a blow if not she will simply round up to wind, very light on the helm when set up can be left to steer herself almost, in very strong winds respectable progress can be made under reefed main
Motoring characterisitcs Turning the engine with the tiller is almost essential in tight situations the engine will cavitate quite readily if not
Liveability Two people for two weeks is luxury thats how i use her, other than that day and weekend sailing.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Not dealt with Hunter direct
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from a broker experience was ok no problems
