Year built 2002
Location of boat Rocky Fork Lake (near Cincinnati, OH)
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, Very sturdy boat, great room below decks, not that hard to singlehand.
Gear that's been added Options with boat: Cloth interior Port a Potti Wheel Steering Furler Stern Seats Bimini Cockpit Cushions Honda 9.9 motor Added items: EZ Steer Lighter & fan in Saloon Stern Seat back bar cushion Companionway cover
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Ease of sailing & trailoring Large comfortable area below deck Water ballast system
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Jib cleats are too far forward. New Honda 9.9 is hard to start (not a Hunter problem) Too much weight on Stbd. side- I should have had battery put on other side. Why do in boom lines exit at mast end- why not closer to captain? Helmsan seat could be higher. Bilge pump should be installed somewhere else further down in hull. The rudder design (with pin in down position) works just fine. Could use some drink holders in the saloon. Overall these are pretty minor compared with all of the great other features. No major repairs or warranty issues.
Sailing characterisitcs Everything from light winds to calm days and sunny to torrental downpours. Boat performed fine in all conditions.
Motoring characterisitcs Docking takes some getting used to- added the EZ Steer system & it works fine. Limits the turning a little bit- but more manuverability is a better tradeoff.
Liveability Have not slept on it yet- only potential problem could be belly slap- but we will see. Overall it is quite roomy and enjoyable for day sails. Seating & table in saloon are big hits. Matress(s) more comfortable than I thought they would be.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very quick to respond and helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Strickly Sail did a great job getting boat ready, explaining & demonstrating all parts, and following up on misc. issues. Ordered replacement parts for items before I asked and took care of one cracked hatch at my convenience. Very knowledgable and quality minded.
Other comments Very comfortable & enjoyable boat. Stern rail seats are the best seats in the house!
