The boat's best features 1: Ease of sailing shorthanded 2: Cabin Layout (livability) 3: Speed
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing yet
Sailing characterisitcs Very strong saing close hauled. Very easy helm. I feel comfortable handing off to my wife.
Motoring characterisitcs The 44 hp diesel has enough power to move the boat along very nicely.
Liveability The dual heads certainly help in that matter. the aft stateroom is quite large for this not being a center cockpit boat. The wood interior has held up well and certainly give a warm feel to the cabin. The saloon table is huge when fully open. I can have a lot of people sitting at the table at one time. I mean sitting comfortable. The people on the long settee side next to the nav station do not have to lean forward to reach the table.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Have not dealt with them.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Very good broker. Sherry Cameron @ Cameron's Cove, Benicia Ca was the broker and I will recommend her and use her when it is time to move up to a bigger boat,
Other comments My initial impression upon seeing this boat for the first time was one of how pleasing her lines are. The cabin top blends into the foredeck smoothly and the decks are wide enough for some serious sail handling without undue worry of someone being tossed overboard. The cockpit is large enough to hold several people without crowding and is very comfortable. I understand that this design is much faster than the newer Hunters, and I wonder why they decided to move away from building serious racer/cruisers which is where I'd put this boat.
