Review of the Hunter 29.5 by Sailor Jeff

Year built 1994
Location of boat Fort Myers Beach FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? Yes
Owner bought the boat in 2022
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added New auto pilot.
Structural or complex improvements Built a wood support for under the table so it take the stress of the bracket that holds it in place. Added a bilge pump in the aft compartment because when it rains water collects in there and I cant find the fresh water leak
The boat's best features The cockpit and down below are roomy, the galley is nice and there is plenty of storage under the seats and v berth
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The windows, they all leak, so i just silcone them shut, not more leaks
Sailing characterisitcs In heavy winds its shes hard to bring into the wind, she falls off easy. Im no expert but i think the rudder is a little small
Motoring characterisitcs Yanmar 2gm20f is a great engine, is some vibration at 1800 RPM but below and above that it smooths out
Liveability Excellent
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) no
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any no
Other comments I solo sail, mostly day sail up and down the coast, she is easy to handle buy yourself, great for marina living becasue of the big cockpit its great for social gatherings, the walk thru transome is a plus for swimming and getting back on the boat with ease.
