Review of the Hunter 29.5 by robert blank

Owner bought the boat in 94  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes, it took about two seasons to iron out the wrinkles, but the boat is growing on me. it isa good sailor, not incredibly fast, not incrediblytender, gives best sail in above 10 knots. you have to reef this big main in 15 knots with one reef and above 20 knots with 2 reefs, or the weather helm is unbearable. at 10-15 knots it is a real pleasure. have had few probs, now resolved/ such as leaking aft locker-resealed ladder bolts.leaking ports-replaced by hunter. Hunter has really stood by the warrantee and has been more than reasonable..now with no probs the boat show that it is a great daysailor(very easy to singlehand),weekender with kids or take on 1-2wk vacations.yup I would do it again, but boy the 340 sure looks nice!  
Gear that's been added 4 ports in the main salon, installed in the plexiglass-the best thing I did. Gives markedly better ventilation and livability.radio at the helm, added 2 aft winches, with bullets running the jibsheets aft, makes singlehandling a natural,cantsee solo sailing with out this.dodger,  
Structural or complex improvements  
The boat's best features great size for daysail,easy to solo, sails well,  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. resolved now but did cause headaches thenaft locker leak- seal ladder bolts,problem solvedleaking ports- hunter replace them  
Sailing characterisitcs as above- not great light wind sailor but in10-15 sails nice with no reef15-20 sails great with one reef20-above sails nice with 2 reefs and very small amount of jib  
Motoring characterisitcs adequate  
Liveability great for weekends,for 1-2 wk vacations if you value your marriage arrange for one day off boat in nice hotel near the marina for each day sleeping on boat.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) suprisingly receptive. didn't always come up with the solutions but they tried. they also paid my local boat yard to do the warrantee work. they didnt have to do that.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any i delt directly with hunter , much more effective
