Review of the Hunter 29.5 by Rudy P.

Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 2000  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, it turned out to be a better boat than I ever expected.  
Gear that's been added GPS, fishfinder, asymetrical spinnaker, bimini, fortress anchor, a/c unit(for dock only), zodiac inflatable, extra bilge pump, automatic pilot.  
Structural or complex improvements not yet, but plan to add davits for zodiac at aft.  
The boat's best features solid dependable vessel, handles wind changes with ease, easy to manuever and sail, 4' draft allows for coastal sailing with "caution",  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. leaks in the aft lockers coming from the joint of hull to deck, took care of it by completely drying up lockers and then sealing with extra strenght silicone from 3M all over the seam.  
Sailing characterisitcs handles winds of up to 15 knots with ease, higher than that one reef required, sail easy to raised if properly maintained, sails better and faster if not too much heeling, have had it to 7 knots with ease in moderate winds.  
Motoring characterisitcs yanmar overheated after motoring for 2hours, changed impeller, oil, fluids, etc... and still overheats after a while, will change the heat sensor next  
Liveability excellent, live in it every weekend, added a/c (portable)to combat extreme heat in the keys and mosquitoes. comfortable to sleep in , shower and cook.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) have not had to yet.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought it from Florida Yatch Charters in Miami Beach. Excellent to deal with, experienced people, and got me an excellent price.
