Review of the Hunter 260 by Reinhold Fussle

Year built 2000
Location of boat Lake Wawasee, IN
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely, we love to spend days or weekends on the boat right here on Lake Wawasee, but had the boat out on Lake Erie and on Lake Michigan for extended vacations.
Gear that's been added Bimini, VHF radio, rudder/outboard connecting rod
Structural or complex improvements wheel steering, outbord controls on helmseat
The boat's best features trailerable, very roomy cockpit and cabin, affordable boat,
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. in very heavy rain or when washing down topside there is a small leak somewhere around the mast which lets water into the bilge. Bilge pump and sensor are not installed in lowest point in bilge.Fit and installation of DC panel, cover plates in interiour, latch on anchor locker should be better
Sailing characterisitcs decent performance with standard sails, surprisingly good in larger waves
Motoring characterisitcs hull speed seems to be around 6.2 kts, I am using a 15 hp 4 cycle Yamaha which is more than needed. the rudder to outboard interconnect together with wheel steering makes maneuvering a pleasure. I used to have a 240 with a tiller mooring was a royal pain with this setup.
Liveability very comfortable for two people for a boat this size. The hatch over the aft berth makes it usable for two. Huge table big enough to entertain five adults with plenty of room. V berth is ok once you go through the prodedure of turning around the table and moving the cushions.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) na
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any na
