Review of the Hunter 240 by R.L.Wyatt

Owner bought the boat in 2003  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? No, I soon found out that a trailor sailor I'm not. The boat is to easily over powered on the Great Lakes to much of the time. This boat is for bays and lakes on 10KT or less days.  
Gear that's been added 2nd battery, GPS, depth finder, vhf radio, rigging etc.  
Structural or complex improvements No  
The boat's best features It's very easy to tow. It sails great in light winds and there is alot of room for guest.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Water ballast is good for trailering but you pay a steep penalty for it when it's off the trailer. Buid quality of my particular boat is very good but I looked a couple other 240s and was disappointed, some where blistered others had nuts that were only started on the threads.  
Sailing characterisitcs I find when the wind get over 10KTs and winds are variable watch out for gust. Frequent round abouts are common under these conditions.  
Motoring characterisitcs The large amount of hull above water makes it a bit trick to navigate out of the slip on windy days. Other than that handles very well.  
Liveability Lot of room above decent room below if you don't mind bending over.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Never even met the broker. The only help they were was to give me the phone number of the owner.
