Review of the Hunter 240 by silas devaney

Owner bought the boat in 1999  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes,i have sailed this boat in my dreams for about 2 years now.it is everything i thought it would be and more.  
Gear that's been added yes,a stack pack,a roller furl,remote control for my outboard.there will be more next season i'm sure but i can't think of anything else that i would need just yet.this is my first boat and i'm sure there will be more.  
Structural or complex improvements no  
The boat's best features the ease of loading and unloading from the trailor.the mast raising system is so easy my wife even does it by herself on occassions.the openess of the cabin makes it nice to spend the week end with the grandkids.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. my hunter trailor could use some longer guides.there was one occassion when one of them got under the lip between the hull and the deck and i had to reload.  
Sailing characterisitcs very little to daye because i waited so late in the season to purchase.but so far she has done everything i have asked her to do.  
Motoring characterisitcs just in and out of the slip  
Liveability the grandkids love it and we don't seem cramped at all.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) n/a  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any i purchased my boat from sail boats inc. in indianapolis.he is a dealer for hunter and catalina.it was with his help that i purchased my hunter.he told me the extra money spent on the hunter would far outway the differnce in my sailing pleasure.he told me that i could by my hunter this year or get the cat 250 and buy my new hunter next year either way i would be in a hunter before it was over.i'm already planning my upgrade to a hunter 260.not this year but in the very near future i will.
