Shroud Guard

posted 10-07-2008 by Terry Cox

The small lower outer shroud works the best for this four foot length of inch and a quarter PVC. It is large enough to drop down around the turn buckle. The old plastic stuff allowed gunk to grow inside. This way it is easy to lift up for inspection and cleaning. The genoa sheets now have a nice smooth surface to ride on rather than turn buckles and stranded wire. No more sheet abrasion.

Standard PVC cap has a small wedge cut out so that it can fit around the shroud stranded wire. Used 3M 5200 to glue the wedge back into place.

Allows Water To Run Through

Used a hole saw to cut a one half inch thick Starboard plastic washer that fits onto the lower turn buckle post. The PVC rests on this washer and spins freely when needed.
