I was really surprised to find that after lifting cushions and removing 6 screws i had a new undiscovered storage locker of pretty reasonable size!
This is the new left hand locker- all I had to do was remove the 6 screws holding lid down and fit 2 SS hinges- i also had to trim off about 10mm off leading edge solid would clear timber panel under bed

this is the new locker on the RHS - the lid wont lift all the way up as it fouls the under bed timber, but it is still a useful storage bin. Trying to post more pics, but cant see how!!
I wanted to add that I had to cut a 1.1/2 strip off the left hand or forward edge and 1/2 off the right hand or rearward edge, in both cases tapering back to the rear most edge. If I can work out how, I will add the pics!

this locker to left is the most useful as the lid hinges back and rests on side wall and is quite large
