Review of the Hunter 212 by Jimmy O

Year built 2000
Location of boat Michigan
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Probably...This is our first boat so we don't have many comparisons.
Gear that's been added No
Structural or complex improvements Yes. Lowered the motor mount approx 2 inches to accommodate the 2 1/2 hp Merc we purchased per Hunter recommendation.
The boat's best features Harken Roller furling..Open Transom..Cabin space..cockpit size
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Can not lock the cabin for weekend trips...when we mosey into town for a quick meal.
Sailing characterisitcs So far so good... been very particular on the days we have taken it out...ex: less than 15 knot winds, sunny high pressure, etc... Not taking any chances the inaugural season.
Motoring characterisitcs After re-doing the mount. No Problems.
Liveability Great! Just like a camper on water:)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Hunter was very good a re-directing us to JY for our parts.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Midwest sailing did an excellent job.
Other comments Having alot of fun with our new 212!!
