Owner bought the boat in 1993
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would buy this boat again because it fitsthe need I have to be easy to trailer, good construction and fun to sail.
Gear that's been added VHF,depth
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Performance -- it goes fast for it's class,my wife likes the shape (she thinks it'ssleek), ease of set up (my wife raises andlowers the mast by herself). Every year we take our boat up to the San Juans for a weekor more and this boat handles it just fine.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. (the wife speaks) Next time have someone theheight of a woman try to brace themselves whilesailing. I feel short on the boat - at 5'3".Our added cam cleats help. I still have tosit where I can use the center table stand to brace my feet. Yes, I like to beat upwind.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat is very responsive and is somwhattender. An inexperienced sailor my have some difficulty with the sudden heeling and a tendency to round up in large gusts. The boat is quite fast and I can beat manyboats that are larger than us and most boatsin our size class. It does require a littletime to turn the boat when starting froma dead stop due to the high aspect rudder. It does fine after some speed is aquired. It is necessary to reef when the winds get over15 knots. We have found that it sails verywell using the main alone. It could use anotherreefing point.
Motoring characterisitcs We have an 8hp. Honda that works verywell with the boat. In tight spots weusually back up and do most of the steeringwith the moter.
Liveability The boat is extreamly roomy. When we haveguests on board they are always commentingon how much room we have. I don't havemuch room to turn over sleeping on the port side of the rear bunk. Another inchor two would have been nice. The ice chestis a bit small. We have taken extended trips of 10 or more days on the boat so haveto take along another chest strapped tothe deck. We use the vee berth for storageas this boat doesn't have much actualstorage space. For it's size though, wefind the boat very livable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They have been very helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Great people to work with.
