Structural or complex improvements None... just fine as it is
The boat's best features Roominess of the cabin and I feel very confident undersail in 15 -20 knot wind. Sails very easy for me. Have the Yanmar YGM2 which I hear is a blessing. Plenty of power and much easier to handle especially in Chesapeake Bay currents, and at the dock.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. So far all is well no problems ... Not real crazy about the port lights or hatches. Will someday replace with a better quality. Has plenty of ventilation but not the best material. i haven't had a lot of trouble with the door in the head but can see where it could be a problem. I keep the slide well lubricated with silicone. With a full tank of diesel, and waste holding tank about 1/2 full.. has tendancy to list to starboard. Plan to add about 20 gal water tank on port side to even it out.
Sailing characterisitcs Does have weather helm but better than Lee.. Auto-Pilot works fine.. jyst have to keep the sails trimmed and it's fine.
Motoring characterisitcs Yanmar 2YGM... 3 blade prop... that says it all.. no problems..
Liveability Ver nice for a 27' boat.. head-room fine.. I'm 5'11. Like the V-birth.. very room, esecially the headroom.. don't feel closed in. Have to add a couplr mor outlets
