Review of the Hunter Vision-32 by Jean Hrab

Year built 1989
Location of boat Lake Champlain
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? absolutely, I would look for a more equipped boat: bimini, refrigeration, dodger, autopilot, windlass etc...however the price would be higher. I underestimated the time, effort, energy, cost of installing all of these things.
Gear that's been added have added a new anchor roller, a must on this boat.am additing a bimini and dodger.
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features It handles rough weather: 20-30 knots of wind quite well, it points awfully well, am always in full control, I have raced it and suprized the hell of a lot of people./
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. It leaks, windows etc...all the screws holding the inside woowork have to be replaced, the holding tank is too small for 4 people on a week end.
Sailing characterisitcs Handles comfortably on 4 to 5 feet (or more) wawes, have had (not to repeat) 8 people on last week mend (a mistake) the wind rose and we sailed for four hours in 25-30 knots, all newcommers to the sailing business, I was the only one who knew(almost) how to sail.No problems, we even raced for a while: full main and genoa, unrolled the reefs and pushed ahead. It worked extremely well.
Motoring characterisitcs no problem
Liveability With the u shaped seats it feels that there is a lot of space. we we get together in a bay all come aboard and sit around the inside lounging area (not bad for a 32), nobody gets in the way and is extremely comfortable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) ordered parts before 11.00 am was delivered upstate New York by 11.00 am the next day.works very well.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought it from Sailing Specialities in Conn. (near Mystic) very knowledgeable, knew the boat inside out, mechanics were first class.I plan to move to a 376 and I will buy it from them.Boats are fun from Willsboro, N.Y. a equally as great.
