If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, although I wish it was in better shape when purchased. Sadly, it was used as a floating condo for about a decade and as a result needed some major work to get it back into shape. This is STILL a work in progress, but this boat certainly has potential.
Gear that's been added Yes, a Twin-Scope sonar/fishfinder, all new instruments (the old ones were a
Structural or complex improvements Re-gelcoated hull b/c of blister problem.
The boat's best features *Definitely* the speed and sailing characteristics. This thing is a blast, even in 10 knots of wind. Also has a very nice ride. It doesn't bounce around in choppy seas. It's got a cool dinghy
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Hard to say. Pretty much everything needed replacement or work, but that was more lack of maintenance than any inherent problem. Everything that was part of the boat to begin with (hull, rigging, etc.) seems fine, but only time will tell.
Sailing characterisitcs FAST! Points very well upwind. Handles nicely. Can turn *very* quickly if necessary. Also seems to handle well downwind with the genniker up. Haven't gotten around to getting the spinnaker up yet, but it promises to be fun.
Motoring characterisitcs Motors well, but if it's blowing over 12 knots, sailing is faster. Driving something that big in a marina is intimidating the first few times, but it can turn on a dime, so manuvering is very controlled once you get used to the length. Feathering prop is great for backing into the slip.
Liveability Spacey enogh inside. It already has A/C, fridge, freezer, etc. Enough room to sleep four with some to spare. Haven't gotten around to living on it yet but plan to do so.
