The boat's best features We have the full batten main - the boat sails very well. It handles well under power or sail. Accomodation is great - especially the owner's cabin. Much of the mfg. installed gear is good quality - Harken, Lewmar.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. We had a problem running the 110V fridge - the boat needs a 2500W inverter - that solved our problem. Many other little problems which have been or are being solved. Our delivery survey showed some voids in the deck which have to be filled.
Sailing characterisitcs Have had a few opportunities to sail in big winds - up to 30kn. Each time we get better at handling her. Now run with 2Xreef and full jib whehn beating in winds over 25Kn. This gives us a well balanced rudder, and the boat handles it well. I think the water line and the 27,000 lbs. displacement gives this boat good motion in bigger seas. In lighter winds, with the big main, she goes quite well.
Motoring characterisitcs This boat is a dream to handle under power. For example, we like to back her into her slip, but it's a bit tight for a boat of this length to turn inside the marina, so we start backing up on the outside and run her in backwards, through the entrance, down our aisle, and into the berth. She does this with no problem, even with a bit of wind. We have the 76HP diesel which pushes the boat along easily at 8Kn. Under full power, don't let go of the wheel - the boat will pull quickly to one side.
Liveability Excellent - all berths are comfortable, spacious. This boat has large everything. Owner's cabin has separate shower, just like the real thing!!
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Our dealer has handled everything - only spoken with Hunter once to verify the problem with the inverter. I got the impression through the process of solving the inverter problem that Hunter was hoping for a simple solution to a difficult problem. It took far too long for them to realize that they had an engineering error in this system (inverter too small to run the fridge). I am satisfied that the problem has been solved, but the angst and time spent on this item could have been eliminated if Hunter had been able to hear the answer which was put out by the local electrician early on.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Specialty Yacht Sales in Vancouver, B.C. have been very accomodating in getting the defects repaired. They have accepted responsibility for the boat, and pursued solutions on my behalf. I have appreciated their professionalism throughout the process, I have never fely that I was
