Year built 1986
Location of boat Grand Lake Ohio
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Racing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1992
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes agreat boat
Gear that's been added I raced our boat for 5 seasons so boat was set up to race. Full sail inventory 98%,130,mylar 155% tapedrive mylar main all UK sails. Plus a set of cruising sails. Extended sheet car track new traveler , backstay adjuster , ran halyards to cockpit ,rope clutches 1/4 stay set x halyards and a cruising spinnaker halyard.Plus the usual crusing gear vhf, knot meter am/fm radio.
Structural or complex improvements In my early racing I found the boat didnt point worth a darn.Ikept thinking it was the keel I would be mid fleet at first mark gain 2-3 boats on reaching legs and get hammered on long up wind leg. What I found was there were boats with 36 inch spreaders and boats with 28 inch spreaders so it meant also a different bulkhead location. So in my quest for our boat club championship I cut 9 inches off my spreader and glassed in new bulkheads. The result was the club championship was mine. Also 4 out 5 regattas that season plus a second in a race where we were the smallest boat in the fleet.
The boat's best features Easy to trailer ,fast lots of good features best boat in this size.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Was hard to get boat up to speed because nobody else is racing the boat.
Sailing characterisitcs Boat is tender need to change headsails as wind comes up. Changed to 130 at around 12 15 knots of wind speed. Never had more than a crew of three.Boat really fast of the wind would gain alot on fleet on reaches and down wind.
Motoring characterisitcs 5 hp nissan moved boat real well removed factory bracket replaced with a lifting mount a must for racing.
Liveability Great spent a week on LAKE ERIE with my 2 kids 14
