Review of the Hunter 340 by S Halloin

Year built 1999
Location of boat McKinley Harbor, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, definitely.
Gear that's been added Dodger, Bimini, arch speakers, normal gadgets.
Structural or complex improvements None needed.
The boat's best features The head; the kitchen; the extraoridinarily reliable Yanmar Engine; main stateroom; cockpit configeration.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Very few complaints. The stove has been a real dud and a new buyer should watch it carefully. The engine could be better sound proofed; sound proofing is comparable to other similarly priced boats, however.
Sailing characterisitcs Mainly 3' to 6' seas in 15 - 20 knots of wind.
Motoring characterisitcs Just in and out of habor and near ports.
Liveability Good for two or three days at a time. Main stateroom is quite sleepable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Great dealer; very responsive. Nice people. (Riverside Marine in Racine)
