Review of the Hunter 340 by Hans

Owner bought the boat in 1999  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes but we should have taken the 380 for more room.  
Gear that's been added Spinnaker winches  
Structural or complex improvements We eliminated the arch and had a mid-boom traveler system installed.  
The boat's best features Compfort under sail and at the dock! Despite her  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The engine tachometer is malfunctioning, and the screens are very weak (falling apart after a few days of using the boat).We had a lot of problems with items installed by the dealer.  
Sailing characterisitcs We have sailed in winds up to 26 Kts and the boat handled great just with the jib. We reef the main at 15 kts and second reef at 18 kts (close hauled). The asymmetrical spinnaker (from Anson Sailmakers) is a great option for winds up to 20 Kts. We couldn't live without it.  
Motoring characterisitcs Autopilot!!!  
Liveability For its size, the inside is optimal. The cockpit is impressive but we should have ordered the cushions ...  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Unfortunately we only dealt with them when problems with the dealership necessitated a call directly to Hunter. So far they have been supportive and professional.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any We purchased from Seacoast Marine in Newburyport, MA.Good start ... horrible finish resulting in an overall negative, costly and frustrating experience for us. We learned the hard way not to trust and never pay your dealer in advance, hold out your money until your boat is delivered with all its options in perfect working condition.
