Review of the Hunter 22 by Chuck

Year built 1981
Location of boat Salem,Ma
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES!!
Gear that's been added VHF radio, Searchlight
Structural or complex improvements Rewired entire electrical system, and movedcircuit bereakers behind and below the portbulkhead where the salt water cannot get to them.
The boat's best features Stability in high winds, maximum storage space, well laid out cabin, reasonably large cockpit withstraight transom so there is no wasted space at the stern. Halyards run aft to the cockpit.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No good spot to install bilge pump.
Sailing characterisitcs Able to stand up to 40K winds without water pouring over the rails in 4' seas. Helm requires fairly constant attention, but not excessive.
Motoring characterisitcs Powers along smoothly at 6 knots with 7.5 evinrude. Very much dislikes reversing however.
Liveability Nice for a weekend, naturally cramped with my ten and twelve year old sons on board.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) n/a
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
