Review of the Hunter 336 by Paul Richardson

Year built 1995
Location of boat SanduskyS OH
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1995
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yesS an excellent value
Gear that's been added two 6V golf cart batteries replacing the "house 12V"S refrigerationS wheel brakeS dodgerS biminiS cockpit cushionsS cabin curtains
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features easy to sail; very largeS comfortable cockpit;and a very liveable interior
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The early production models (under hull #25) have the bow cleats buried in the anchor well. This is not practicalS however I have adjusted to them. The screens for the ports are flimsy for otherwise a quality boat. The topping lift line should lead back to the cockpitS as this is the only significant item that requires adjustment at the mast.
Sailing characterisitcs very good on all points of sail
Motoring characterisitcs The Yanmar does it`s work well--cruises over 5 knots @ 2500RPM`s--and is fairly quiet
Liveability Outstanding! Have never seen an other under 35 foot boat that is as liveable
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) very good
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any very good
