Review of the Hunter 336 by Rainer Griebel

Owner bought the boat in 1997  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? its abit early to say. She is much more radical than what I am used to. Have lots of problems getting the main up the steel slides jam badly.This is the first 336 in Australia, bought by me as a demo boat  
Gear that's been added Dodger, cockpit cushions, 12V refrigeration, 2 6V golfcart batteries as house batteries 215amps, 80amp alternator, TWC smart regulator, CD player,extra lights,new 33lb cqr plus 40m chain,battman,spinnaker, spreaderlights and various other bits like brass clock and barometer, stained all the light cabin lining to match the teak.  
Structural or complex improvements no  
The boat's best features very roomy in cockpit and cabins,head etc. Attractive styling, ease of maintenance, good features like the trash disposal, plenty of storage inside and out,very bright and airy,but not looking like a caravan(trailer)  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Bolts and screws are shoddily fixed, the cupboard catches are hopeless, most difficult yacht ever to customise electrically,ie no conduits, try to get a wire from the control panel to the refrigerator,some fittings are flimsy,ie hinges and battery hold downs.  
Sailing characterisitcs needs reefing over 18 knots of breeze to weather, fairly quick on a reach, useless running but then ones not supposed to do this.generally not bad to windward, not too good in 3m swell with 1.5m windwaves.Generally not bad  
Motoring characterisitcs Find the best RPM around2700 not too much vibration and quiet. would be nice to see cooling water exiting at the transom rather than below.
