Review of the Hunter 33_77-83 by Dennis Miller

Year built 1981
Location of boat Lake Texhoma, Texas
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, Lots of Boat for the dollars spent. Easy to sail, have made 7 knots with a clean bottom. Lots of room below, V-berth very comfortable, large ice box, and yes we use the alcohol stove.
Gear that's been added Bottom paint after 4 years with very few bubbles, new cushions from Johnson Sales in Florida, everything else is grat condition. Woops, forgot about the head bladder, replaced with solid tank it really had a lot of odor.
Structural or complex improvements The top deck 18
The boat's best features Lot of Boat for the Cost
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. See Above
Sailing characterisitcs 20-25 knot winds with the main reefed and no headsail, it was ok but not that much fun. With full sails and 12-15 knot winds it will easily do 6 knots with a clean bottom and has done 7.03 knots on one occasion. Lots of fun in10-15 knot winds.
Motoring characterisitcs The boat has bad reverse torque problems, I usually have someone or myself push to starboard before reversing. I have no problems getting 5-6 knots in moderate wind.
Liveability Very Good, Nice shower and plenty of water. I would love to take it for extended periods around the coast. Maybe someday.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I have not dealt with Hunter.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Our broker owns the Marina, very nice people.
