Review of the Hunter 280 by esedenka

Year built 1997
Location of boat Baltimore, MD
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2016
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Probably not. Its a good boat, our first sailboat. We now know what we really want, a little more room, more stable sailing
Gear that's been added Hour meter, DC volt gauge
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Strong Yanmar engine, shallow draft
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Tank gauges failed
Sailing characterisitcs Tender, Reef main at 15, all the power is in the main. Balances well with 1st reef, with full main and jib the balance isnt great
Motoring characterisitcs Stong motor, tracks well
Liveability Weekends are fine but no longer than that
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
