Review of the Hunter 25 by Daponder

Year built 2008
Location of boat Chesapeake Bay - Rhode River
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2019
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, the shoal draft is perfect for our shallow waters.
Gear that's been added Battery solar charger
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Outboard control handy at helm when going solo.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. poor pointing into wind; concerned the rudder may need adjustment?
Sailing characterisitcs seems to be faster than larger boats when sailing downwind - due to shoal draft. Spinnaker option with tube shoot is great but still difficult when going solo.
Motoring characterisitcs Will consider adding a tiller handle on the outboard to improve maneuverability in tight areas.
Liveability Nice improvement over the previous 22 foot Gloucester sailboat. Will consider overnight trips with grand kids.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Same broker as previous boat and excellent experience with both
Other comments Have not yet used the trailer or had to step down/up mast but impressed with the mechanisms compared to previous boat.
