Review of the Hunter 25.5 by Dan1

Year built 1989
Location of boat Lake Erie
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2017
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely - great boat for us - first time sailboat owners. We love it.
Gear that's been added Trickle charger, hatch screens, microwave, stereo system, new bilge pump and switch
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Sails really well, jib furler is a huge plus for us. Large, roomy salon, nice cockpit area, easy to operate.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Low headroom down below, tight squeeze into v-berth/porta-head area
Sailing characterisitcs Fast, does well in light wind - tender but very manageable
Motoring characterisitcs Came with the original Tohatsu 8hp mounted on starboard stern - cables and cockpit mounted control box - not in the best working order. Needs some adjustment/repair. I do the manual operation from the ladder when exiting or entering the slip. Once underway though it handles and operates really well.
Liveability Great time for us when we spend the night or weekend on the boat at the dock. We get good airflow and are very comfortable. We build screens for front hatch and entry hatch as well as port windows that open. Headroom is short for me but we make it work.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
