Review of the Hunter 310 by william berson

Year built 1999
Location of boat black rock harbor, connecticut
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes - generally delighted with the boat.
Gear that's been added refrigeration, bimini, radar, shades, 2nd battery, fishing pole holder (a must)
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features speed, stability, roominess and comfort, sea kindly, fairly fast, points very well
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. fuel guage not correctly connected at factory - hunter says a few slipped through with no ground connection.
Sailing characterisitcs fast, especially to windward
Motoring characterisitcs handles well under power, a little too much vibration at 2300-2500 RPM - more than an atomic four, but no worse than some other diesels, very economical .6 gal/hr @ 2800 RPM
Liveability good, for 2 two-year olds parents, the table counterweight bangs annoyingly when the table is down - have to tie it up. water, head, refrig systems work very well. generally comfortable and safe
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) generally very positive
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any sailing specialties, mystic, ct - a pleasure to deal with, low pressure sales, committed follow-up after the order.
