The boat's best features Very stable, extremely forgiving!
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Minor problems with the wiring. Of course, this boat is 16 years old.The only other problem is that the mailsail goes up against the crossbraces on the mast when running before the wind. This probably isn't the correct way to say this, but then, I'm rather inexperienced any way.
Sailing characterisitcs Very forgiving. With the winds we get, gusting from all directions, here close to and in the mountains, this is a very handy feature.Seems to sail best on the starboard tack. Also, it seems, the stronger the wind, the closer to the wind she can sail.
Motoring characterisitcs Steady as a rock. Some small problems with steering, using the outboard AND the rudder. I think the real problem is a loose nut holding the tiller.
Liveability OK for day sailing or weekending and camping. Definitely NOT a live-aboard.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The boat was purchased through Safe Harbor Boats in Mead, Colorado. Bill Padgett has been really great to work with on this. He even went out with us on our first sail, to help us get familiarized. (It has been 25 years or so since I last sailed.) I would strongly recommend him as a dealer and as a friend.
