Review of the Hunter 410 by Roger Liebner

Year built 2000
Location of boat Great Lakes
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Blue water, extended passages
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? Yes
Owner bought the boat in 2010
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. I owned a 1998 Hunter 410 and traveled from Bayfield Wi as far south as "Velcro" Vero Beach Florida from June 07 - June 08. The boat burned on the hard in a marina fire June 1 in Deltaville Virginia. I waited two years and purchased the current 2000 model. Roller furled Selden main and jib are very easy to sail single handed.
Gear that's been added Anchor Sail from Banner Bay Marina. Very good solution to sailing on anchor. Ocean Marine System Davits. LED lights. Wallace diesel 10,000 BTU furnace.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Very good live aboard with plenty of light below.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The refrigeration is much improved from the 1998 model 410.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs I can't say enough good things about the Yanmar 50.
Liveability I spend about 95 nights a summer on the boat. Maybe 20-25 secured in a harbor. Balance on the "hook".
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very good feed back from Hunter. I recently visited the factory and have a better understand on how mine was constructed and how different new models are being built. Well worth the visit to Alachua Florida.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
