Review of the Hunter 41DS by Jean Philippe El khazen

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Great yacht, it's a Cadillac!  
Gear that's been added Navtex, Kiwi prop and a different anchor with 50m of chain. The original one is unreliable  
Structural or complex improvements no  
The boat's best features She is great handling on all winds and very confortable. The boat is roomy and luxurious  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The bildge area is difficult to access and not well finished. You must be careful not injuring yourself while cleaning it because the fiberglass is not polished properly. While commissioning the boat,it appeared that both head 'y' valves, that shift from the holding tank to the sea, were fitted upside down I am still concerned about the cast iron keel. Does it outlast?  
Sailing characterisitcs Saling her is great specially in the Eastern Med were the sea is capricious.  
Motoring characterisitcs The Yanmar 54 HP is fantastic,but a little bit gluttonous for extended passages. Its average is around 3.5l/Hr. The 50 gallons tank is not enough and therefore, you need to load 30 gallons in extra  
Liveability The boat is roomy with a big galley well equiped. The air conditioning system is excellent and reliable in hot conditions

Other comments Hunter should add to its list the Kiwi prop. It's fantastic. It should also supply reliable anchors as the 'Spade' which is great holding and not very expensisve
