Owner bought the boat in 2011
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would definitely buy this one again. We looked for at least three years for the right boat. We looked at many designs and tried to find the right one for our needs. We wanted comfort and leisurely sailing. Our goal was to be able to have friends on the boat and be comfortable and not cramped and still be under 24 feet due to the size of our dock and the depth of the lake we live at. We looked at a Catalina, O'Day, and MacGregor and THIS was the right boat for us. We haven't regretted it once.
Gear that's been added Marine-grade radio/cd/mp3(4) player and two marine-grade speakers.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Love the pass-thru transom, the larger cabin space (compared to sleeker boats) and deep seats in the cockpit and the swim ladder.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Don't like the rope system to raise the rudder. We drop the swim ladder and grab the rudder.
Sailing characterisitcs LOVELY! She handles well. It sail great in light wind. Great to stretch out and take a leisurely sail in the evening.
Motoring characterisitcs We have an odd area in which we dock the boat, very close quarters. We have the centerboard up and rudder up and use only the long shaft motor to get through the area between our dock and the private island's docks behind us. We find slow and steady works with putting the motor in neutral to combat any prop walk.
Liveability Haven't "lived" on it yet, but day sailing is fantastic.
