Review of the Hunter 326 by Dennis

Owner bought the boat in 2006  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes....been very pleased with ease of use and performance. My family, none of whom had any sailing experience, easily learned to captain and crew the boat.  
Gear that's been added South Bay Strainer and anchor lock down....otherwise bought from original owner and only missing radar / reflectors which I intend to add before dropping back in this Spring.  
Structural or complex improvements none  
The boat's best features Wide beam taken back to cockpit.....in mast furling....ability to single hand from cockpit... cabin space and lay out...kids love the integrated swim platfrom (dive platform most often) and ladder beyond walk thru transom  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. have replaced engine kill cable / throttle cable....plumbing fixtures have been an issue as faucets strip easily and I can not find replacements  
Sailing characterisitcs handles well in all conditions - been up to 25 -30 mph....weather helm easily limited by proper sail balance....love it close to the wind thru broad reach...downwind a bit slow - but I need to learn to leverage boom vang properly which will help  
Motoring characterisitcs would like more power but 18hp gets job done in and out of dockage and thru rough inlets to Ocean.....impressed at lack of prop walk influence when backing up  
Liveability we have taken week long vacations on boat with 4 adult size people - and sometimes add a 5th...ample space provided you plan ahead, pack light, and don't want to stay down in cabin all day....if it were my wife and I, would have no problem going much longer
