Year built 1983
Location of boat St. Simons Island, GA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, The Hunter 31 is a great boat. I just started sailing in 1998 and this is my first sailboat. My only regret is that I did not buy it sooner.
Gear that's been added Upgraded the FM radio and speakers, new deck cushions
Structural or complex improvements Re-wired the boat,
The boat's best features It is solid. I do not have to worry about anything major happening while under sail
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The window leaked water
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs The boat is way under powered, but it will always get you where you want to go. It has a strong prop wash when you are backing
Liveability It could become a little cramped after more than a week, but it does have lots of storage.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought my boat from Dunbar Sales in St Simons Is Ga. If I had it to do all over again I would by the same boat for the same price from Dunbar.
