Location of boat South Lousiana
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 97
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes,
Gear that's been added Compass,Depth,Speed and Log meter
Structural or complex improvements Cut the inside mast support to pull out the swing keel wench for repairs, then spliced it back with a sleeve for future repairs if needed. Built Multi level mast step for back to make it easy to trailer and setup mast. Put a piece of rubber on trailer frame to let keel down on during transportation to save wear on keelrope.
The boat's best features Easy to trailer and setup when reaching destination.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The swing keel setup. Came with nylon bushings to guide the rope around for pulleys. Need to take out the broken bushings and replace with real pulleys or brass bushings so the keel rope doesn't wear and break. Should have been designed to use pulleys and cable. Angle of front side windows, need to have covers in rain or heavy waves. They have good seals but there leaned in angle lets water lay in them waiting to fall in cabin when opened.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails easy and very forgiving
Motoring characterisitcs Pull the Rudder out when motoring and steer with engine
Liveability Small interior, good for daysailing and a couple on a weekender
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Sent a drawing of the keel lift mech. the next day after I asked on line what the original setup was.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Broker, have an experienced sailor help check the boat with you. They know what to look for, be it little or big
