Review of the Hunter 28 by Steve Dublin

Year built 1989
Location of boat Fort Lauderdale
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 89
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes I would. I used to race small boats and would have preferred a fin keel for pointing ability but the wing keel has allowed us more freedom at low tide around the keys. The boat sails very well on a close and beam reach.
Gear that's been added Adjustable back stay to improve the boats windward ability, spinnaker gear, whisker pole.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features The boat has a handsome, classic look. She is relatively easy to sail and maintain.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. During the 5 months I've owned the boat I've had to replace the freshwater pump, the bilge pump and the reefing system.
Sailing characterisitcs Winds from 5 to 30 knots and seas from 1 to 10'.
Motoring characterisitcs It took a while, but once you get the hang of it the boat backs well.
Liveability NA
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) na
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
