Review of the Hunter 28 by Lynn Strube

Year built 1992
Location of boat Hannibal Missouri
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1991
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? No! Iwould much rather be in a larger boat. But for how I use my boat I have very fewcomplaints.
Gear that's been added Spinnaker gear.
Structural or complex improvements I reinforced the turning blocks which lead to the two winches.
The boat's best features The quality of Hunter is very visible compared to other yachts next to me.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Stern pulpit works itself loose. I havehad a few, above the waterline, leaks. Mybilge pump has never been satisfactory, andthe water pressure pump failed in the secondyear. The engine has a few fuel leaks which I am always trying to eliminate. The smell of diesel is always in the boat.
Sailing characterisitcs I single hand my boat almost 95% of the time that I sail. It really is very easy to sail.
Motoring characterisitcs I really do not do any extended motoring, just in and out of the marina. Sometimes toa cove when there is no wind.
Liveability My 28 is very comfortable for me in the "V"berth. I am 6'2" tall and the after-berth has just enough curve in it to be uncomfortable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) SO-SO
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I would buy from him again.
