Review of the Hunter 33 by Luis Roig

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Sin duda / Yes, no doubt.  
Gear that's been added Mariner Pack, Furling main, A/C, Bimini, Dodger, Traveller on arch, keel deep, 3 blade prop, spinaker gear, Raymarine C80 display with GPS, Raymarine autopilot 4000, freezer, high water bilge alarm, oven, DVD, VHF remote, walk-thru bow pulpit, 227 Amp batterie.  
Structural or complex improvements Aun no, pero considero la adicción de un generador de 2 KVA en la popa / No yet, but considering the installation of a 2000 KVA generator in the transom.  
The boat's best features Amplitud de espacio interior, comodidad, la mejor bañera del mercado, fácil de manejo, velocidad de navegación, buena motorización con 30 CV, bajo consumo. Liveability, comfort, best cockpit in the market, easy to handle, good hull speed, superb YM30, good fuel perfomance.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Los problemas ya conocidos: el medidor del deposito de aguas residuales, el sobrcalentamiento del YM30. Indicator of waste water doesn't work and the known overheating of the Yanmar YM30 over 2800 rpm.  
Sailing characterisitcs Lo más sorprendente fue la establidad de dirección: tuvimos una avería en el piloto automático y navegamos durante 4 dias en manual sin necesitar más que pequeñas correcciones al rumbo, a pesar de la fuerte marejada y el viento en contra. Va sobre railes. The most impresive was the stability on the course without the autopilot along 4 days against strong swell and frontal winds. She runs likely "over rails"  
Motoring characterisitcs Aparte del calentamiento cuando el régimen supera las 2800 rpm, que debe ser corregido por Yanmar bajo garantía, el funcionamiento es suave, potente -con 30 CV- silencioso y de bajo consumo: 1.5 lts/h a 2600 rpm Well, apart from the overheating issue, running is smooth, powerfull -30 HP- quiet y good perfomance: 0.4 US gal/h at 2600 rpm  
Liveability Es lo mejor del barco: Venimos de un Dufour 3800 de 31' y es sorprendente lo que se gana por esos 2.5' de más eslora. La popa es gloriosa y el interior magnífico. La amplitud de los camarotes, el salón y la cocina raya en lo milagroso. El baño es correcto tirando a bueno. La ducha de la bañera un acierto. La capacidad de estiba es grande y si se anula el cesto de basura se consigue una despensa descomunal. It's the best of the ship. We come from a Dufour 3800 of 31' and the amount of living volume for these 2.5' is amazing. The cockpit, berths, square and dinette are superb. The head is fair enough. The stow room is great and you cain gain a huge storeroom eliminating the trash bin.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) No hemos tenido necesidad de hablar con Hunter We have not had the necessity to deal with Hunter yet.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Nuestro dealer, Escuela de Vela Caaballeda, ha tenido un comportamiento tan magnífico, comprensivo y colaborador durante todo el proceso de definición y compra que ha terminado en amistad. Hemos podido superar sin problemas las dificultades añadidas por la distancia a fábrica y el proceso de importación y abanderamiento. Our dealer, Escuela de Vela Caraballeda, has been so cooperative and open minded during all the lenggthy definition and purchase process - almost a year- that our relation has ended in a strong friendship. Very nice person that has known solve the extra difficulties derived from the distance and importing issues.  
Other comments Hemos hecho una travesía oceánica de 1700 mn para traerlo a casa, tripulado por dos personas, y ha sido una muy grata experiencia que casi por si misma vale el precio del barco. Es de destacar que el barco la ha superado a la perfección sin nongún contratiempo. Ha superado nuestras expectativas. Our trip of 1700 mn back home, directly from the commisioning, has been smooth without any troubles at all. Great experience. In brief, the ship has gone beyond our expectations.
