Location of boat Kip Marina Scotland
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2004
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added VHF Fixed DSC Electric Windlass for Anchor Chart Plotter & Radar Eberpacher Heating system In-mast reefing Roller reefing CraftAlert Alarm, Monitoring and Tracking system http://www.craftalert.com Other safety gear
Structural or complex improvements Biggest improvement was removal of my Bimini cover which causes major handling problems in anything over a light breeze - especially when berthing (Catches wind badly)
The boat's best features Space / Comfort and easy to sail
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Concerned at the rigging with the Lower cross wire shrouds touching each other - could cause shrouds to fray. Needs repositioned on existing and future models.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails well in light winds below 20knts. Been out in F7 37Kt winds and sails Ok with Main sail well reefed (In mast sail) Berthing in reverse can be tricky in even a light breeze as wind catches the light weight & high sided bow of boat very easily. Considering adding a bow thruster for better control.
Motoring characterisitcs Economical to run on Volvo 29HP 20/30 engine does 7 knts maximum speed around 3,500 revs Found the plastic diesel fuel tank a big worry when filling up tank as it expands to a worrying level before overflowing over rear transom. The expansion causes diesel leakage on Eberspacher heating feed pipe on top of tank.
Liveability Spend most weekends on board and have made several 1 week trips around West Coast of Scotland (Edge of Atlantic)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Use Opal Marine in UK - Service pretty good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Opal Marine (Peters Plc) good experience
