Review of the Hunter 280 by David Dick

Year built 1997
Location of boat Oakville, Ontario, Canada
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I wish I could turn the clock back so that I could enjoy my boat from the year it was built.
Gear that's been added I have added a full bimini top, that has made staying out on the water all day even more enjoyable.
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features I am most impressed with the room for a 28 foot boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat handles well in almost all situations, the only shortcoming is sailing downwind.
Motoring characterisitcs The Yanmar Diesel is great, I love it. It works very hard for very little pay.
Liveability It is very comfortable for my whole family, I have 2 six foot tall teenagers and cruising for a week is no problem.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I have not needed to.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any My experience with Angus Yachts of Toronto was a very pleasant one.
