Year built 1988
Location of boat Palm Coast, FL
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1989
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes! It's a lot of boat for the money.
Gear that's been added roller furling, 150 Genoa, Deck lights, 3 additional ports, High Output alternator, Refridgeration, 3 solar vents, solar panel, GPS plotter, VHF, Stereo/CD, Additional battery and switiching, Autopilot, LED cabin lights, 4 Cabin fans, Cockpit shower, Battery charger, Midship cleats.
Structural or complex improvements Removed 6" from bottom of rudder because on my shoal draft version it was longer that the keel, also, see list above.
The boat's best features Sails fast and lots of interior space for it's size. Easy to handle.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Rear cabin door unneeded. Head too small, could remove sink in head to make more room. Bottom blisters (Hunter was no help at all!). Over the years I've replaced almost everything on the boat as needed.
Sailing characterisitcs Boat sails well and is fast. Tender for the first 15 degrees then stiff and easy to handle.
Motoring characterisitcs Motors quite well. Steers well in tight places. Could use a bit more power for rough seas and when in a hurry.
Liveability Plenty of room for two people. Wish it had a/c here in Florida. Four people a bit cozy when overnight. Head too small.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Poor- Bottom blister problem in fist years of ownership...Hunter didn't want anything to do with me.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any No, as it was a bad experience.
Other comments Basically not a bad overall boat. Fast and roomy for the money. Still mad that Hunter didn't help when the blister problem developed as it cost $4800 to repair. Won't buy another Hunter.
