Review of the Hunter 28.5 by Walter Harris

Year built 1986
Location of boat Niceville, FL
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1988
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, without any reservations!
Gear that's been added Autohelm, deep cycle battery and switch.
Structural or complex improvements Replaced hatches with Bomar hatches.
The boat's best features Easy to handle, very responsive. Sails well close to the wind.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing significant.
Sailing characterisitcs Very responsive, points well. Is a fast boat in a good wind.
Motoring characterisitcs handles fairly well, although slow to make way when put into reverse
Liveability Have only spent overnight, but is very comfortable. I know older Catalina 30 owners who swear I have more room in the cabin than they have.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They have always done their best to help even though my boat is 12 years old. They are friendly and courteous.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from private owner
