Review of the Hunter 326 by Dave Pierce

Year built 2003
Location of boat Lake Lanier, GA
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Probably not, but not because of the boat's characteristics. I've found that it's more boat than I need.
Gear that's been added No. Only a handheld GPS and furnishings! We're still thinking about options.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features Size and ease of handling.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Have had some minor problems with single line furling, but nothing else.
Sailing characterisitcs Docile. Very stable and comfortable, even on a day when the winds topped 30Kts unexpectedly.
Motoring characterisitcs Excellent. No prop walk in either direction. A little slow, though.
Liveability So far, so good, but we've only spent single nights on board. Haven't done a long weekend yet.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) It was OK. Bought the boat through Whitney Marine when they had a dealership branch here (since closed) and they quickly fixed all minor problems.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Buying experience was excellent. I had a boat in Hilton Head that they took in trade, which entailed moving that boat and some other complications, but they worked with me all the way.
Other comments The boat is an excellent design for a weekend sailor. Lots of room, easy to handle, systems are reliable. I'm able to sail instead of spending time maintaining things.
