Review of the Hunter 23 by Paul Brailsford

Year built 1987
Location of boat Ipswich
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? A comfortable, well laid out boat, with smple room in cockpit for four. Winged keel however not heavy or deep enough for it to stand up to its canvas in over 15 knots of wind. Makes too much leeway when sailing close to the wind, especially in a choppy sea. Its a comfortable inefficent sail boat on which to enjoy a summer afternoon.
