Review of the Hunter 23.5 by Chris Foster

Year built 1994
Location of boat Cardiff bay U.K
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1992
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes no problems so far,but a bit heavy handed have broke a few things lifting mast (my fault) so have got pontoon now.Did brake the mast foot but was very pleased at renew price, We did spend full day making new one which rusted then found out was only 20 dollars to renew!!
Gear that's been added Roller reefing and bits of teak trim
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features The self draining cockpit and the accomadation
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Everything works (anything that broke was my crews fault!!!)
Sailing characterisitcs Not really experienced enough to comment. Just bought boat and went. Bristol channel has very strong tides, but havnt had any problems so far.
Motoring characterisitcs Again not really enough experience to know but dont seem to hit as many boats as other peole
Liveability Only two people ever on boat so lots of room boat also has large awning when in harbour but would have thought a bit crowded with 6 on board!!
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Live in UK so no dealings with hunter but OPAL MARINE in UK excellent
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from private seller
Other comments Would have liked a little more wood but of course would have made more expensive. Also roads in UK can be very narrow so trailer sailing can be a bit hair raising at times
