Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. It's convinced me that owning a cruisning type sailboat is doable -- financially and physically. It's proven to be a stiff, responsive, lively and forgiving boat to sail. It was a great entry level (from an 18' hobie) boat for me. Next boat will have a larger engine, if possible. This 16 hp Yanmar is dependable and adaquate but at higher rpms, vibrates your fillings out!
Gear that's been added No.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Responsiveness, stiffness in strong air
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Problems with the head -- fresh water not coming in to help flush down.
Sailing characterisitcs Stiff, handles strong winds well. Responsive to the wheel.
Motoring characterisitcs Somewhat underpowered. If required to motor long distances, the vibration due the higher rpms (above 2500) is awful.
Liveability Comfortable for one or two -- space below is
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) My only experience was a request for information about the boat, like a manual of how it was built...I was provided with a xeroxed copy of various information for $15. I know it's difficult to keep that type of information and I appreciate their help.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any NA
