Review of the Hunter 28.5 by Ken Nowell

Year built 1986
Location of boat Lexington, SC
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 199
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I definitely would buy it again. I had a great deal to learn, since it is my first boat, but I love it.
Gear that's been added I added a new head when I discovered the old one had a cracked base. I redid the decor with new fabrics throughout and I intend to add furling.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features Great cabin, smooth sailing and not too large to single hand.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I am concerned about my bilge smells but I have been reading info from the
Sailing characterisitcs Everyone who has help me sail has more experience than I do. They have all loved the sailing characteristics of the boat.
Motoring characterisitcs I actually use this more often than sailing (until I get to where I can single-hand comfortably). It does what I need.
Liveability The cabin is just what I was looking for. I have a family of 4 and we have been able to sleep aboard. As it turns out, however, I don't think I can get them to do it again but its still a great size for my sleepovers. We even have a TV/VCR with an omnidirectional antenna.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any N/A
