Review of the Hunter 26.5 by Bill Beglin

Year built 1988
Location of boat Brookville, IN
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, boat is a pleasure to sail, powers up quickly, not too tender and very balanced. I've owned and sailed a number of boats in this size range and this has been one of my favorites.
Gear that's been added Dual batteries, spring loaded swing up motor mount, shore power, CD player and speakers, VHF radio. Added a number of shelves in to the interior storage.
Structural or complex improvements none other than above
The boat's best features Sailing it. lift top companionway hatch
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. nadda
Sailing characterisitcs As above, very balanced, very easy to sail and trim, points well and is just a very nice responsive boat.
Motoring characterisitcs nothing unusual, runs along fine with the original Nissan 9.9
Liveability V-berth is great, don't like not haveing a seperate head, but need to get bigger boat in most cases for that. I think better than average for boats in this range.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) bought used
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Strictly Sail in Cincinnati. Best dealer I've ever worked with. Very knowledgeable, customer friendly and low pressure. Steve and Bob have been working together for a lot of years and really know their stuff.
Other comments Will hate to sell it some day.
