Review of the Hunter 36 by hartley newman

Year built 2004
Location of boat hampton,va
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2004
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes!
Gear that's been added Had it fully equipped when I ordered it.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Ease of use
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Had a bundle tie come loose and let the shift cable get up too close to the manifold riser and cook itself. Norton marine fixed it quickly at my home port. Works fine now,
Sailing characterisitcs Strong steady responsive boat that was easy to learn how to use in spite of its loads of equipment.
Motoring characterisitcs Startsd quickly, runs smoothly, no problems, easy to service, good checkout from Nortons.
Liveability It has more useable room than my previous boat on which I did live for several years. It was a Morgan O/I 41. This 36 has more useful room but not as much storage.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Visited the factory in FL when the boat was being built. They were wonderful. I got to touch and point and ask questions. it was a great experience.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I think very highly of Ken and Carolyn at Nortons yacht sales in Deltaville VA. Super helpful and honest. They couldn't have been more professional. I toot their horn at every opportunity.
Other comments Love the boat and the thought that went into it.
