The boat's best features Large cabin with good headroom and lots of light and ventilation.Auxilary engine provides plenty of power for going up river against the current, and boat is very easy to handle.Boat is easy to single hand under sail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. My boat is now eight years old, and I havn't experienced any problems with materials or workmanship. The quality is high.In terms of design, I would rate it very good. It has a lot of habitablity for a 28, and that is the main reason why I bought it.On the downside, I would prefer a shorter mast, given the bridges I would like to get under without unstepping the mast. Also I find the cockpit a little small... the wider sterns on the newer boats are a design improvement in that regard.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat sails very well, even in strong winds.Since I don't like to reef, I often singe hand with the large jib.
Motoring characterisitcs When I purchased the boat, it was in Georgian Bay and I motored it to Ottawa through the Trent-Severn and Rideau canal system, a total distance of over 500 miles with 100 locks. It handled beatifully and was very resposnsive to the helm in tightly restrictive spaces and varying currents.
Liveability Excellent for its size.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Have had no reason to deal with them.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I purchased the boat through a broker (Ward Yacht Sales in Toronto)and found them very helpful in both showing the boat and expediting the deal.
